Girls in Global Policy is a student-led initiative designed to educate young women from underserved communities on public policy and governance through age-appropriate educational interventions. The initiative will include the development of a Policy Playbook, which will provide a database for students to find enrichment programs and courses that focus on public policy. The Girls in Global Policy initiative will also include a series of original children's books called "Little Leaders" to engage children in the development of their political literacy through stories based on young women who tackle political issues. Additionally, the Girls in Global Policy initiative will host "In the Room" case study discussion sessions using the experience of "The National Education Policy," "Mission Shakti," and "POSHAN Abhiyaan," supported by Margin Notes, an interactive workbook designed to advance the development of critical and reflective thinking skills.
For the next phase, Girls in Global Policy will focus on applied learning as well as building access to the program. This phase includes Access Codes, an online fundraiser that raises funds for educating girls. Furthermore, an intra-organization policy case competition will also be incorporated, in which all participants will work together to find solutions for educational, public health, and community safety issues affecting girls and women worldwide. The project will also aim to empower girls through workshops and provide girls from socio-economically disadvantaged communities with the opportunity to pursue long-term interests in policy pathways.
